"Primping the Doll"
From a 24"x36" Acrylic on Canvas
A ground crewman puts the final
touches on the P-51 Mustang "Big Beautiful Doll" flown by the 78th
Fighter Group commander J.D. Landers in England 1944. Due to the
great success of the Mustang, the Senate War Investigating Committee
set up by Harry Truman in 1944, called it “the most aerodynamically
perfect pursuit plane in existence.”
