"The Civilian and the Draftee"
From a 15" x 20" Watercolor on
Illustration Board
The famous and ever popular Piper J-3 Cub
helped teach more than a few pilots to fly. With America’s entry
into World War II a light observation and liason aircraft was
needed. The Cub fit that role perfectly by being able to take off
and land in rough areas. The Cub was used in all theatres of combat
and was nicknamed the “Grasshopper”.
